Medihelp Hospital, Mount Lavinia won three Gold Awards and three Silver Awards at the National Convention on Quality and Productivity (NCQP) 2026, with every quality improvement project it presented receiving national recognition. The achievement places Medihelp among Sri Lanka’s leading healthcare organizations in quality improvement and demonstrates how staff-led innovation continues to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, clinical quality, and patient safety across the Group. The National Convention on Quality and Productivity (NCQP), organized annually by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP), is Sri Lanka’s premier platform for recognizing organizations that achieve measurable improvements through quality management. Held under the theme “People-Driven Quality and Productivity for a Resilient Sri Lanka,” the convention brings together leading public and private sector organizations to showcase initiatives that deliver tangible improvements in quality, productivity, and organizational performance.

Medihelp’s six award-winning projects addressed a range of operational and clinical challenges encountered in everyday healthcare delivery. Developed by multidisciplinary teams across the organization, the initiatives focused on improving patient safety, enhancing service efficiency, strengthening clinical processes, reducing waiting times, optimizing resource utilization, and delivering a better overall patient experience. Together, these initiatives reflect Medihelp Hospitals’ belief that sustainable improvements in healthcare are achieved by empowering employees to identify challenges, develop practical solutions, and continuously improve the way care is delivered. This people-driven approach has helped foster a culture where innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement are embedded across the organization’s chain of healthcare facilities. Rather than relying solely on large-scale transformation programmes, the projects demonstrate how practical improvements initiated by frontline teams can produce meaningful and lasting results. These initiatives have strengthened patient safety, improved operational efficiency, enhanced clinical quality, and created more consistent healthcare experiences for patients.

Commenting on the achievement, Shammi Perera. General Manager of Medihelp Hospitals said: “Winning three Gold Awards and three Silver Awards at NCQP 2026 is a proud achievement for Medihelp Hospitals and, more importantly, a tribute to the dedication and teamwork of our employees. Quality is not a destination, it is a culture. Every improvement, regardless of its size, reflects our commitment to providing safer, more efficient, and more compassionate care for our patients. We are proud of our teams for continuously challenging existing practices and driving meaningful improvements that make a real difference in the patient experience.” He further emphasized that continuous quality improvement remains a cornerstone of Medihelp’s long-term strategy. By investing in its people, strengthening systems, embracing innovation, and encouraging staff to test ideas, measure outcomes, and share best practices across the organization, Medihelp continues to enhance clinical excellence and operational performance throughout its growing healthcare network. For patients and the wider community, this national recognition provides further assurance of Medihelp’s unwavering commitment to delivering safe, accessible, compassionate, and high-quality healthcare. Every improvement implemented across the organization ultimately translates into better clinical outcomes, greater efficiency, enhanced patient safety, and a superior healthcare experience. As one of Sri Lanka’s leading private healthcare providers, Medihelp Hospitals continues to invest not only in modern infrastructure and advanced medical technology but also in cultivating a culture where every employee is empowered to contribute towards excellence.
