The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) celebrated the graduation of over 650 healthcare professionals at its Graduation Ceremony 2026, held on 24 June 2026 at the Wave & Lake Banquet Hall, Ragama. The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Professor Nophar Geifman, Professor of Health and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, who congratulated the graduates and highlighted the importance of innovation, technology, research and interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping the future of healthcare.

This year’s graduation marked a historic milestone for IIHS, with graduates completing programmes across foundation, diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor’s and master’s levels. Qualifications awarded included Foundation in Biological Sciences, Diploma in General Nursing, Advanced Diplomas in Biomedical Sciences, Physiotherapy and General Nursing, as well as internationally affiliated degree and postgraduate programmes. A special highlight was the graduation of the first-ever cohorts from IIHS Professional Bachelor’s programmes. A total of 227 graduates received Professional Bachelor’s qualifications in Nursing, Public Health, Dental Therapy and Oral Hygiene, and Public Health and Midwifery, reflecting IIHS’s commitment to creating new pathways for healthcare professionals in Sri Lanka.

Over the past 25 years, IIHS has evolved beyond a healthcare training institution into a true Global Airport for healthcare careers. Its programmes have become a launchpad for students and professionals to take off into local and international opportunities. With strong academic pathways, global partnerships and industry-recognised qualifications, IIHS certificates have become a global passport, enabling graduates to progress into employment, higher education, professional registration and migration pathways across the world.

Celebrating 25 years of healthcare training, IIHS has made a significant contribution to Sri Lanka’s healthcare workforce. The institution has trained and upgraded over 5,000 nurses and healthcare professionals serving in the government and private sectors, while more than 2,500 IIHS graduates are now working overseas, contributing to healthcare systems in countries such as the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA and the Middle East. Several special awards were also presented, including the Community Service Award, Student Leadership Award, IIHS Ambassador Award, Most Outstanding Student Award and Special Achievement Awards, recognising excellence in leadership, service, innovation and personal achievement.

Commenting on the occasion, IIHS Co-Founder and CEO Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe said: “IIHS has always been at the forefront of healthcare education innovation. As we celebrate 25 years of transforming lives through healthcare training, IIHS has become a Global Airport for healthcare careers, where students are prepared to take off into the world with confidence. Our certificates are more than qualifications; they are a global passport that opens doors to education, employment, migration and professional success.” The IIHS Graduation 2026 stands as a proud milestone in the institution’s journey of producing competent, compassionate and globally competitive healthcare professionals. As the Class of 2026 begins the next chapter of their careers, they join a growing global network of IIHS graduates contributing to healthcare, education and community development across Sri Lanka and beyond.
