Huawei’s Advanced Antenna Technology Delivers Faster, Wider Mobile Coverage on Morocco’s High-Speed Transport Routes
Morocco’s leading telecom operator inwi has partnered with Huawei to commercially deploy an advanced dual-band antenna solution, known as 8T8R (eight transmit, eight receive), across the country’s major transportation corridors, including high-speed railway and highway routes, marking a significant advance in mobile connectivity for high-speed travel scenarios.
The 1.8 GHz plus 2.1 GHz dual-band 8T8R solution is powered by Huawei’s HyperBeamforming technology, which delivers a 13 dB coverage gain over legacy 2T2R networks, extends coverage by nearly one kilometer, improves average downlink user-perceived throughput by 83 percent, and increases the number of active users supported by a factor of 3.2.
The solution works with high-gain Hertz antennas to enable more accurate and concentrated narrow beams, reducing signal interference and expanding single-site coverage by 30 percent. By removing the need for additional physical sites, the solution eliminates coverage gaps caused by large inter-site distances, boosts downlink user-perceived rates, and lowers network deployment costs.
Jamel Sakka, Deputy CTO of inwi, said: “inwi is committed to delivering the most extensive, highest-quality, and best-performing communications network for our customers. Through this collaboration with Huawei, the deployment of the dual-band 8T8R solution has significantly improved network performance along the high-speed rail line, enabling every user to enjoy faster, more stable, and better connection experiences. Looking ahead, we will continue to deepen our partnership and innovate to further strengthen our network competitiveness and stimulate the development of the regional digital economy.”
James Zeng, President of Huawei Wireless FDD Product Line, said: “This commercial deployment of the 8T8R solution fully validates its ability to significantly extend coverage and improve user experience in high-speed railway and highway scenarios, providing users with an ultimate connection experience during each trip. In the future, we will remain innovation-driven, focus on regional network challenges, help operators build simplified, green, and performance-leading mobile networks, and provide a stable and highly reliable connectivity foundation for diverse scenarios, enabling every user to enjoy exceptional digital services.”
The deployment adds to a growing list of markets where Huawei’s wireless technologies have been commercially adopted to solve network performance challenges in high-mobility environments, reflecting the continued global expansion of the company’s beamforming and antenna innovations across transportation, urban, and rural connectivity scenarios.
