MSTI Maritime Academy Inauguration of Sri Lanka’s Most Advanced Full Mission Bridge Simulator
MSTI Maritime Academy, established in 1986 as Sri Lanka’s first privately owned maritime training school, has developed a distinguished legacy of over three decades in producing globally competent seafarers. With modern training facilities located in Dehiwala, Katukurunda, and Kalutara, and a faculty composed of Master Mariners and Chief Engineers, MSTI continues to set benchmarks for high-quality, industry-relevant maritime education.
Today, MSTI Maritime Academy celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Full Mission Bridge Simulator, the most advanced maritime bridge simulator currently available in Sri Lanka.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief Guest, Hon. Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, along with Captain Ajith Peiris, Chairman of MSTI, senior officials from the maritime and port sectors, industry partners, maritime professionals, academics, and media representatives.
Manufactured by Wärtsilä-NTPro, a global leader in maritime simulation technology, the new simulator features a fully immersive 360-degree bridge environment, advanced navigation and ship handling systems, communication consoles, as well as specialized simulations for tug-handling and escort operations.
This simulator enhances both operational and management-level training by supporting STCW compliant competencies. It offers real-world navigational scenarios, emergency response training, crisis management, and bridge resource management. This landmark addition reinforces MSTI’s commitment to delivering world-class maritime training and strengthening Sri Lanka’s position in regional naval education.
