
BOC and Mastercard Launch “BizPlus” Credit Card to Empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises
Bank of Ceylon (BOC) has partnered with Mastercard to launch the BizPlus Credit Card, a tailored financial product specifically designed to meet the needs of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The official launch took place on 7th May 2025, marking a significant step in BOC’s ongoing efforts to support financial inclusion and economic empowerment across the country.
The BizPlus Credit Card is crafted to help business owners manage their operational expenses with greater ease and efficiency. From hotel bookings and business travel to advertising, marketing campaigns, and social media promotions, the card is intended to serve as a versatile and dependable tool for managing day-to-day business costs. As a product issued under the globally trusted Mastercard brand, the card provides an enhanced experience with a variety of financial benefits. These include substantial travel insurance coverage for high-end cardholders, easy installment plans extending up to 24 months, and access to the BOC Rewardz Plus loyalty program, which allows cardholders to earn and redeem points on eligible transactions. The card is not only a financial instrument but a strategic enabler that supports the growth of MSMEs by offering practical, digital solutions for business spending. It also reflects BOC’s focus on strengthening its relationships with its business clientele, enhancing loyalty, and increasing value-added services.
The launch ceremony was attended by several key dignitaries from both organizations. Represented Bank of Ceylon Chairman Mr. Kavinda de Zoysa, General Manager/ CEO Mr. W. P. Russel Fonseka, Deputy General Manager Product and Banking Development Mr. Y. A. Jayathilaka, Deputy General Manager International, Treasury and Investment Mr. Jayashantha Godakanda and Deputy General Manager Development Banking and Branch Credit Operations Mr. R. M. N. Jeewantha. Mastercard’s leadership was represented by Mr. Gautam Aggarwal Division President for South Asia, Mr. Vikas Varma Chief Operating Officer for South Asia, Mr. Sandun Hapugoda Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives and Ms. Mahesha Amarasuriya Director for Sri Lanka.
