Agro Harvest Cultivation Pvt Ltd wins award for innovative agro-tourism concept
Agro Harvest Cultivation Pvt. Ltd. has won the “Most Innovative Idea of the Year – Platinum (Medium – Agro Tourism)” award at the Business World International Awards 2025 for its Greensprout Agro Escape project. Organised by the US-based Business World International Organisation, the award ceremony was held recently at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. Greensprout Agro Escape project is a new agro-tourism and sustainable farming initiative based in Raththota, in the Matale District. Spread across 3.5 acres of land, it aims to blend agriculture with tourism by offering visitors an immersive experience of rural life, eco-friendly farming, and wellness. The project is centred on developing a self-sustaining farm that supports both conventional agriculture and tourism-focused facilities.
The company has completed land acquisition and commenced developing the basic infrastructure, including road access and fencing. Initial cultivation efforts are underway, with orchard crops such as papaya and passion fruit being planted on a trial basis. A vermi-composting unit has also been set up to support soil enrichment and sustainable farming practices. Agro Harvest plans to expand agricultural activities by introducing high-value crops such as cinnamon, pepper, cardamom, vanilla, and a variety of vegetables and fruits. The project will also adopt organic and permaculture techniques, use advanced irrigation systems, and introduce greenhouse cultivation to support year-round production. In terms of tourism, the plan includes six cabana-style eco-lodges, a farm-to-table restaurant using produce grown onsite, and an Ayurvedic spa and meditation centre. Visitors will also be able to take part in a range of nature-based experiences such as bird watching, cycling, and learning about butterfly conservation. In addition, a livestock visit programme will be introduced. Agro Harvest is led by a team of travel professionals with a focus on responsible tourism, agriculture, and sustainability.
