Sri Lanka’s fintech sector continues to gain momentum with the appointment of Vardan Aslibekyan, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pay&Go, to the Board of Directors of Fintech Forum Sri Lanka, the country’s leading industry body representing the financial technology sector. The appointment was extended by Channa de Silva, Chairman of Fintech Forum Sri Lanka, in recognition of Aslibekyan’s contributions to the country’s digital payments landscape and his growing influence within the fintech ecosystem. Fintech Forum Sri Lanka works closely with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, government institutions, international fintech associations, and private sector stakeholders to advance financial technology in the country. The forum serves as a platform to encourage innovation, strengthen collaboration across the industry, and support policies that enable the growth of Sri Lanka’s fintech sector. Aslibekyan’s appointment reflects the expanding role of Pay&Go in Sri Lanka’s digital financial services space. Under his leadership, the company has built a rapidly growing payment technology platform that connects both digital and physical payment infrastructures across the country. Pay&Go today serves more than five million unique users across its platforms, including its mobile application, POS network, kiosks, and web-based services. The company continues to expand its nationwide network of self-service kiosks and merchant payment terminals, supporting a wide range of digital and physical financial transactions.

Through this integrated platform, Pay&Go currently processes an average of approximately 1.5 million transactions per month, enabling individuals and businesses to access convenient and secure payment services across multiple channels. By combining mobile payments with kiosk-based services and merchant payment terminals, Pay&Go has developed a hybrid payment ecosystem that bridges the gap between traditional financial infrastructure and emerging digital technologies. This approach positions the company among the few fintech platforms in Sri Lanka operating across both digital and physical payment environments. With his appointment to the board, Aslibekyan is expected to contribute his industry expertise to help shape strategic initiatives that strengthen fintech innovation, promote collaboration between regulators and startups, and support the development of scalable digital financial infrastructure across the country. Fintech Forum Sri Lanka has also played an important role in bringing together industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and innovators through its Fintech Summit, which was successfully held last year and attracted key stakeholders from across the financial services and technology sectors. Building on the success of last year’s event, the forum is preparing to host its second Fintech Summit in July this year. With strong participation expected from regional and international fintech leaders, investors, and policymakers, the upcoming summit aims to further accelerate collaboration and innovation within Sri Lanka’s fintech ecosystem. As digital financial services continue to reshape economies around the world, industry leaders such as Vardan Aslibekyan are expected to play a key role in helping Sri Lanka build a more inclusive, efficient, and globally competitive financial services industry.
